Mounting Bracket, Removing And Installing, A7 SPORTBACK

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Release Pliers:VAS6427 

Removing 

-- Remove the window regulator. Refer to WINDOW REGULATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the door handle. Refer to DOOR HANDLE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Using :VAS6427  , rotate the operating cable on the lever -1- 90° in the direction of -arrow A- and remove from the cable bracket.

-- Rotate the door lock cable in the direction of -arrow B-.

• The tab -3- on the operating cable must align with the recess -2- on the operating lever -4-.

-- Disengage the operating cable from the release lever.

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

-- Free up the wiring harness -2- -arrows-.

-- Disengage the mounting bracket -1- toward the rear and guide out toward the opening for the door inner cover, while paying attention to the operating cable.

Installing 

-- Before installing the mounting bracket, check if the backing plates -1 and 2- are inserted correctly.

-- Bring the mounting bracket -2- into the installation position and on the outer door panel -1- -arrows-.

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, while noting the following:

• Equipped on some models: the wiring harness for the exterior door handle touch sensor/exterior door handle illumination must be routed on the mounting bracket, that points to the outer door panel.

TIP:

If the wiring harness is not routed correctly, there may be noises when opening and closing the door window, because the door window grazes the wiring harness.
