Cylinder Head Bank 1 (Right), Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Bung Set: VAS6122
- Socket - T30: T10405
Procedure
-- Remove the cylinder bank 1 (right) camshaft housing. Refer to CYLINDER BANK 1 (RIGHT) CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the right turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING CYLINDER BANK 1 (RIGHT) .
-- Remove the ribbed belt from the starter generator. Refer to STARTER GENERATOR RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the starter generator. Refer to GENERATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolt -2- and remove the coolant ventilation line -1- from the cylinder head.
Audi RS6/RS7:
-- Disconnect the connectors:
- For the After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-
- For the Charge Air Pressure Actuator -V465-
-- Remove the Charge Air Pressure Actuator -V465- from the bracket and free up and move it to the side.
3 - For the Mechanical Coolant Pump Switch Valve -N649-
-- Remove the Mechanical Coolant Pump Switch Valve -N649- from the bracket, free up and push to the side.
4 - For Tank Ventilation Pressure Sensor 1 - G950-, if installed
5 - For the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Heating Element -N79-
6 - For the Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-
7 - For the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor -G71-
Audi A8 / S8 / RSQ8 / SQ8 / SQ7:
- For the After-Run Coolant Pump -V51-
- For the Charge Air Pressure Actuator -V465-
-- Remove the Charge Air Pressure Actuator -V465- from the bracket and free up and move it to the side.
3 - For the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor -G71-
4 - For the Positive Crankcase Ventilation Heating Element -N79-
5 - For the Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-
6 - For the Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31-
-- Free up the wiring harness on the intake manifold.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -7- and remove the air duct hose.
All:
-- Remove the bolts -2- and the remove the chain tensioner -1-.
-- Remove the guide pin -5-.
-- If the cylinder head is removed with the engine installed: push the guide rail -4- upward and secure using a cable tie to the camshaft timing chain -3- as shown.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1 to 10-.
-- Remove the bolts and the cylinder head carefully.
-- Lay the cylinder head on a soft surface, such as foam.
-- Seal the open channels of the intake and exhaust tract with a clean cloth or with completely clean plugs from the : VAS6122 .
