Impact Member, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the connecting brace. Refer to CONNECTING BRACE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Release the catches -arrow- and remove the air ducts -1 and 3-.

There is a risk of injury.

- Discharge static electricity by briefly touching the door striker.

-- Disconnect the connector -6- on the front airbag crash sensor, and follow the safety precautions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING WITH PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .

-- Left side: disconnect the connector -5-.

-- Place a drip tray under the hose couplings for the washer fluid hose.

-- Press the release buttons and disconnect the headlamp washer system washer fluid hose and free it up.

-- For reinstallation, label the installation position of the installation position on both sides of the lock carrier -arrow-.

-- Remove the bolts -1, 3 and 4-.

-- Release the retainer -2-.

-- Tilt the upper impact member -3- forward and push upward, until the tab -arrow- frees up.

-- Remove the impact member; the spring element -1- slides out of its mount during this.

-- If the impact member is to be replaced, remove the following components additionally:

Molded Foam Piece. Refer to MOLDED FOAM PART, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
