Muffler, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the front and rear tunnel brace. Refer to OVERVIEW - UNDERBODY CROSSMEMBERS .
-- Remove the diagonal braces (equipped on some vehicles). Refer to DIAGONAL BRACES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING . Tighten the subframe bolts to the specification without an additional turn. Refer to OVERVIEW - SUBFRAME .
-- Loosen the clamping sleeves -1 and 2- and slide forward.
-- Disconnect the left and right connector -2- for the exhaust door control unit.
CAUTION:
Risk of accident due to the heavy weight of the muffler.
- A second technician is required for the following work steps.
-- Disengage the retaining loops -arrows-.
-- Remove the bolts -3- and remove the muffler -1-.
