Drive Axle, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:

Replace the bolts after removing them.
Replace the seal after removal.
Lock the gear backlash on the gear using the :T40362 .
A new gear is delivered with an assembly aid that is used instead of the :T40362 .
Clean the threaded holes for the end cap threaded connection for example with a thread tap.
Lubricate the bearing area before assembly.

-- Bring the drive axle -3- with thrust washer -2- into the installation position.

-- Position the gear carrier -1- with a new seal and tighten the bolts -arrows-.

-- Push the gear -1- to the stop on the drive axle splines at the same time apply counter pressure on the drive axle from the belt pulley side.

The splines of the gear for the drive axle engage in the crankshaft gear.

-- Tighten the bolt -arrow- to do so counterhold the crankshaft using the :T40049 .

-- Push the gear -1- on the belt pulley side on the drive axle.

Installation position: the labeled side points outward.

-- Tighten the bolt -arrow- to do so counterhold the crankshaft using the :T40049 .

-- Install the coolant pump. Refer to COOLANT PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the camshaft timing chains. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
