Engine And Transmission, Separating

- Torque Wrench 1332 Insert - Ring Wrench - 16mm: VAG1332/14
- Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set: VAS6131/10
- Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set: VAS6131/11
- (Quantity: 2) Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set - Mounting Pins: VAS6131/12-2 from Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set: VAS6131/12
- Hose Clip Pliers: VAS6362
- Wrench - 21mm: T40263
- Adapter: T40314
Procedure
- Engine/transmission assembly removed and placed on the : VAS6131B .
-- Free up the wiring harnesses on the bracket -2-.
-- Free up the wiring duct -2- from the bracket and the subframe.
Risk of accident due to the heavy weight of the subframe.
- A second technician is required for the following work steps.
-- Remove the left and right bolts -arrows- from the side transmission mount.
-- Remove the left and right bolt -2- and remove the subframe to the side to do so remove the supporting mounting element. (Shown with the engine installed.)
-- Loosen the hose clamp -arrow- and remove right the coolant hose.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -3- and remove the coolant hose.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and push the ATF cooler slightly to the side with the ATF pipe/hose lines -1 and 4- attached.
-- Remove the lower cover -1- from the transmission in direction of -arrow-.
Risk of damaging the engine by the timing mechanism skipping.
- Only let the engine turn in the direction of engine rotation.
-- To loosen the bolts, counterhold the drive plate bolt using the : T40263 and : T40314 on the vibration damper.
-- Remove the six bolts -arrow- on the drive plate -1-. Turn the crankshaft an additional 60° in the direction of engine rotation.
-- Remove the left and right engine support. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -1, 2 and 11-, then remove the starter.
-- Set up the : VAS6131B as follows:
- The remaining mounting elements remain unchanged.

-- Position the mounting elements from the : VAS6131/10 , Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set - Mounting: VAS6131/11-4 and Scissor Lift Table - A6 Set - Mounting Pins: VAS6131/12-2 as shown on the left and right on the engine.
-- Insert the engine support bolt to the left and right -arrow- until flush to the Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set - Mounting: VAS6131/11-4
-- Place the mounting element from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set: VAS6131/10 on the left side of the transmission.
-- Place the mounting elements from the Scissor Lift Table - Audi Set: VAS6131/10 and Scissor Lift Table - A8 Set Adapter: VAS6131/11-3 on the right side of the transmission.
-- Turn the left and right spindles upward until all the mounting pins come into contact with the mounting points.
-- Fasten the mounting element base plates to 20 Nm on the : VAS6131B .
-- Remove the bolts -3 through 10- that attach the engine to the transmission.
TIP:
If the screw "7" of the engine and transmission connection can't be removed, then remove bolt -1-, loosen bolt -3- and pivot the ATF line upward slightly.
-- Loosen the clamping screws on the side of the Scissor Lift Table: VAS6131B and pull the rear table top with the transmission slightly to the rear -arrow-. While doing so, remove the starter bolt completely.
-- Pull the transmission all the way to the rear. If necessary, lower it slightly using the front spindles.
