Matrix Led Headlamps, Adjusting/Calibrating, A7 SPORTBACK, RS 7 SPORTBACK, RS 6 AVANT
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Headlamp Adjusting Unit: VAS621001 from software version 1.10.000
- The Matrix LED headlamp is calibrated using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
- For this procedure, the low beam is adjusted first on the left headlamp and then the matrix high beam is calibrated immediately after that. Then the low beam is calibrated on the right headlamp, followed by the matrix high beam.
The Headlamp Must Be Adjusted/Calibrated after the Following Procedures:
- Headlamp position was changed (removing and installing, loosening and tightening the screws)
- The Drivetrain Control Module -J775- was calibrated or replaced.
- The Vehicle Electrical System Control Module -J519- was replaced.
- The Driver Assistance Systems Control Module -J1121- was replaced.
- The Left Rear Level Control System Sensor -G76-, Right Rear Level Control System Sensor -G77-, Left Front Level Control System Sensor -G78- or Right Front Level Control System Sensor -G289- was replaced.
- There is an entry in the DTC memory that indicates the matrix headlamp basic setting/calibration is missing.
Requirements
- Pay attention to the testing and adjustment requirements. Refer to HEADLAMP, ADJUSTING, GENERAL INFORMATION .
If the ambient lighting is too high or is shaking, this can lead to incorrect measurements on the.
- Avoid having ambient lighting too high or shaking.
Procedure
-- Turn on the low beams (but not set at "Auto").
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester.
-- Select and start the Diagnostic operating mode.
-- Select the Test plan tab.
-- Select the Select individual test button and select the following tree structure consecutively:
- Vehicle functionality
- Adjusting/calibrating headlamps
TIP:
When this program is selected, the suspensions moves into the air suspension normal level and the headlamps go into basic setting.
-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.
-- During the program, it will be asked to perform a headlamp adjustment.
-- Align the : VAS621001 at the distance -a- = 100 mm to the vehicle center. Refer to the : VAS621001 Owner's Manual.
-- Remove the front cover for the fender. Refer to OVERVIEW - FENDER .
-- Check the parallel alignment of the : VAS621001 to the vehicle transverse axis by aligning the : VAS621001 laser beam on the left and right front fender bolts -arrows-.
- To prevent a glare for other motorists, pay attention to the exact orientation of the headlamp adjusting unit.
-- Push the : VAS621001 in front of the left headlamp and check the parallel alignment again.
-- Align the : VAS621001 centered on the designated reflector segment -arrow-.
-- Press the "OEM" button -arrow- on : VAS621001 in the main menu.
-- Select "Audi" -arrow-.

-- Press the button -arrow- for the left low beam headlamp.
-- Wait until the light measurement is complete.
-- To adjust the height of the headlamp, set the cut-off line just above the dividing line with the adjustment screw -1-.
-- Then adjust the cut-off line on the dividing line, starting from the top.
-- For side adjustment, turn the adjusting screw -2-.
-- The adjusting screw -2- for the side adjustment must be secured with a plug after the adjustment is made on USA vehicles. Plugs. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- After successful adjustment of the low beams press the left button -arrow-.
A reference segment is activated as the program sequence continues.
-- Position the : VAS621001 centered to the headlamp reference segment.

-- Press the button -arrow- for Matrix beam 1.0.
-- Wait until the light measurement is complete.

- The angle value of the edge of the inner reference segment for the left headlamp is shown.
-- Enter the angle value -arrow- of the inner reference segment edge in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. While doing so, pay attention to the sign if necessary.

-- Press the button -arrow-.
The program sequence will require that the : VAS621001 from the left side to the right side.
-- Align the : VAS621001 at the distance -a- = 100 mm to the vehicle center. Refer to the : VAS621001 Owner's Manual.
-- Check the parallel alignment of the : VAS621001 to the vehicle transverse axis by aligning the : VAS621001 laser beam on the left and right front fender bolts -arrows-.
-- Push the : VAS621001 in front of the right headlamp to check the parallel alignment again.
-- Align the : VAS621001 centered on the low beams reflector segment.
Shown on display:
-- Press the button -arrow- for the right low beam headlamp.
-- Wait until the light measurement is complete.
-- Adjust the right headlamp low beams the same way as the left headlamp.

-- After successful adjustment of the low beams press the right button -arrow-.

-- Position the : VAS621001 centered to the headlamp reference segment.

-- Wait until the light measurement is complete.

-- Enter the angle value -arrow- of the inner reference segment edge in the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester. While doing so, pay attention to the sign if necessary.
-- After completing the calibration, read the DTC memory and correct any existing faults.
