Charge Air System, Checking For Leaks

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Turbo System Tester Kit: VAG1687

• Adapters : VAG1687/3  , : VAG1687/11  and : VAG1687/15

Procedure 

-- Pay attention to the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect the Adapter: VAG1687/3  and : VAG1687/15  on the right upper air duct pipe.

-- Connect the Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter 11 : VAG1687/11  with the Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter: VAG1687/15  to the turbocharger.

-- Connect the hose -arrow- from the Turbo System Tester Kit: VAG1687  to the adapter.

All additional procedures are described. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .

Assembling 

• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match the ones used in series production. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Tightening Specifications 

• Refer to OVERVIEW - CHARGE AIR HOSE CONNECTIONS .
