Cylinder Head Bank 2 (Left), Removing
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Engine Bung Set: VAS6122
- Hose Clip Pliers: VAS6340
- Socket - T30: T10405
Procedure
-- Remove the left camshaft housing. Refer to CYLINDER BANK 2 (LEFT) CAMSHAFT HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the left turbocharger. Refer to TURBOCHARGER, REMOVING, CYLINDER BANK 2 (LEFT) .
-- Remove the ribbed belt from the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR RIBBED BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Audi RS6/RS7:
-- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connection -2- for Throttle Valve Control Module 2 -GX4-.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and free up the clamp.
Audi A8 / S8 / RSQ8 / SQ8 / SQ7:
-- Equipment version with refrigerant R134a/R1234yf without active suspension: remove the A/C compressor from the bracket and tie it up to the side. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING ON BRACKET .
-- Versions with refrigerant R744 with active suspension: remove the A/C compressor. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connectors.
2 - For the Charge Air Pressure Sensor 2 -G447-
3 - For the Throttle Valve Control Module 2 -GX4-
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the crankcase ventilation hose.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- and free up the clamp.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -4- and remove the air duct hose.
All:
-- Disconnect the connectors.
2 - For the Crankcase Ventilation Thermal Resistor 2 -N483-
3 - For the Manifold Absolute Pressure Sensor 2 -G429-
5 - For the Wastegate Bypass Regulator Valve 2 -N274-
-- Remove the charge air pressure actuator from the bracket and free up and move it to the side.
-- Remove the crankcase ventilation pipe -1- to do so press the release buttons on both sides.
-- Disconnect the vacuum hose -4- by pressing the release buttons on both sides.
-- Free up the wires on the intake manifold.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and remove the coolant ventilation line -2- from the cylinder head.
-- Remove the bolts -3- and the chain tensioner -4-.
-- Remove the guide rail bolt -5-.
-- If the cylinder head is removed with the engine installed: push the tensioning rail -2- upward in direction of -arrow- and secure using a cable tie to the camshaft timing chain -1- as shown.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Loosen the cylinder head bolts in the sequence -1 to 10-.
-- Remove the bolts and the cylinder head carefully.
-- Lay the cylinder head on a soft surface, such as foam.
-- Seal the open channels of the intake and exhaust tract with a clean cloth or with completely clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 .
