Crankshaft Seal, Replacing, Belt Pulley Side

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Puller - Crankshaft Seal: T40019

Tool Preparation

-- Insert the Thrust Piece: T40019/4  in the inner part -arrow- of the Puller - Crankshaft Seal: T40019  .

-- Remove the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Position the inner part of the Puller - Crankshaft Seal: T40019  flush with outer part and secure it with the knurled bolt.

-- Lubricate the threaded head on the camshaft seal puller position it and install it as far as possible into the seal using force.

-- Loosen the knurled bolt and turn the inner part with the Thrust Piece: T40019/4  against the crankshaft, until the seal is removed.

-- Secure the seal puller in a vise at the flat spots and remove the seal using pliers.

-- Clean the contact and sealing surface.

-- Mount the Guide: T40320/4  on the crankshaft and push the seal -1- into the belt pulley side sealing flange.

• The open side of seal faces the engine.
• Leave the Guide: T40320/4  on the crankshaft for pressing in.

-- Position the Assembly Tool - Thrust Piece: T40320/1  with the bolt -1- for the vibration damper on the crankshaft.

-- Press the seal -2- in all the way.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
