Steering Intermediate Shaft, Removing And Installing: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

-- Bring the steering intermediate shaft -2- into the installation position at the same time the sealing lip -1- must contact the insulation, as shown.

-- Tighten the bolt -3- and the nuts -4- (shown on a LHD vehicle).

-- Push the intermediate shaft universal joint -2- all the way on the steering column -3-.

-- Install the bolt -1- first by hand in the first threads. Check if the steering intermediate shaft is seated correctly by pulling. Tighten the bolt.

-- Repeat the procedure on the lower universal joint to the steering gear.

-- Connect to the brake booster. Refer to BRAKE PEDAL, DISCONNECTING FROM BRAKE BOOSTER .
