DTC Table

The table that follows lists all possible malfunctions that can be detected by ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- and displayed and printed out on the scan tool: VAG1551  .

NOTE:

Malfunctions stored in DTC memory are retained until the memory is erased SCAN TOOL VAG 1551, CONNECTING AND SELECTING FUNCTIONS .

Before replacing components, always check the positive and Ground connections using the appropriate wiring diagram and check all relevant wiring connections.

After replacing an ABS component:

-- Always check through the ABS system using the Bosch Abs Tester: VAG1710  .

-- Check and erase DTC memory.

-- Road test. Increase speed above 30 km/h (18 mph) at least once.

If the ABS warning light -K47- does not come on during the road test, the system is functioning properly.

Use Test Box (Basic Unit): VAG1598  with adapter cable : VAG1598/3  for checking the wiring harness and electrical connections to ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- (according to the wiring diagram).

Sporadic malfunctions are identified as such by the letters "/SP" appearing on the right side of the scan tool display.

NOTE:

When troubleshooting sporadic malfunctions, try moving the wiring harness that goes to the relevant component while testing (possible loose connection).

Static (non-sporadic) malfunctions that cannot be detected while the vehicle is stationary are also identified with the letters "/SP" when the ignition is switched off and back on again ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC .

The 5-digit DTC only appears in the printout, and is not shown on the scan tool display.

Under the heading "Repairing malfunction" the DTC table also refers to various test steps in the troubleshooting program. However when troubleshooting with Bosch Abs Tester: VAG1710  it is important to carry out all the test steps listed and to keep to the specified sequence.
