Driveshaft, Removing And Installing, Driveshaft Connected On Transmission Side: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal with note to the following:
- Install all marked parts in their original position.
-- Check the heat shield -4- for the shaft seal on the bevel box for damage and if necessary replace.
- Always replace the O-ring -1- and circlip -2- on the output shaft -3-. Refer to Figure.
- Lubricate the splines on the output shaft with Grease for Clutch Plate Shaft Splines:G 000 100 .
-- Remove the eye from the :T40296 .
-- Place the driveshaft on the drive axle splines on the bevel box.
-- Place the rear section of the driveshaft on the :VAS6931 and on a wooden block.
-- Using a plastic mallet -1-, hit on the :T40296 until the driveshaft locks into place on the output shaft.
- The driveshaft must stop at the bevel box and must not be able to be removed by hand from the bevel box.
-- Remove the :T40296 .
-- Lift the driveshaft with the :VAS6931 .
-- Install the bolts -arrows- for the intermediate bearing but do not tighten them.
Leaks due to damaged seal.
- Push the driveshaft horizontally toward the rear.
-- Attach to the driveshaft to the rear final drive making sure the marks -arrows- are lined up.
-- Tighten the driveshaft bolts to the rear final drive.
-- Tighten the bolts -2 and 3- for the pendulum support.
-- Align the intermediate bearing without tension and tighten the bolts -arrows-.
