Fuel Tank More Than 3/4 Full, Draining, TFSI Vehicles
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Fuel Extractor: VAS5190A
- Adapter: VAS5190/4 , not illustrated
- Scraper no. 1 from the Scraper Set: VAS6845
Procedure
-- Observe the safety instructions. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS .
-- Follow the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Move the front seats all the way forward into the highest position.
-- Switch off the ignition.
-- Attach the Fuel Extraction - Adapter 2: VAS5190/4 -item 2- to the suction hose -1- on the Fuel Extractor: VAS5190A .
-- Open the fuel filler door.
-- Clean the area around the fuel filler neck.
-- Remove the fuel filler neck cap -arrow-.
FWD Vehicles:
-- Remove the left rear seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the luggage compartment floor.
-- Remove the storage compartment for the vehicle tool kit.
-- Q3 Sportback: pull and disengage and remove the cover -3- for the left support upward in direction of -arrow A-.
-- Remove the bolts -2- for the left support -1- and disengage the carrier upward in direction of -arrow B- and remove.
-- Remove the button -2-.
-- Disengage the trim -1- under the C-pillar trim panel and remove it in direction of -arrows-.
-- Fold the trim over the sealing flange cover toward the right to the side.
AWD Vehicles:
-- Remove the right rear seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the luggage compartment floor.
-- Remove the storage compartment for the vehicle tool kit.
-- Q3 Sportback: pull and disengage and remove the cover -1- for the right support upward in direction of -arrow A-.
-- Remove the bolts -2- for the right support -3- and disengage the carrier upward in direction of -arrow B- and remove.
-- Remove the button -1-.
-- Disengage the trim -2- from under the C-pillar trim panel and remove in direction of -arrows-.
-- Fold the trim over the sealing flange cover toward the left to the side.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Unclip the sealing flange cover -1- with the scraper from the : VAS6845 at the frame -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the fuel line -arrow- from the sealing flange. Disconnect the connector couplings. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
There is a risk of the fuel tank exploding due to electrostatic discharge.
Severe injuries and burns are possible.
- Attach the fuel siphoning device ground cable to a bare area on the body.
-- Connect the suction hose with the Fuel Extraction - Adapter 2: VAS5190/4 to the connection on the sealing flange.
-- Use the Fuel Extractor: VAS5190A to drain the fuel tank through the sealing flange supply connection.
The Remaining Steps to Be Performed Will Depend on the Issue.
-- Remove the fuel delivery unit and fuel level sensor. Refer to FUEL DELIVERY UNIT/FUEL LEVEL SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, TFSI VEHICLES .
-- Remove the fuel tank. Refer to FUEL TANK, REMOVING, TFSI VEHICLES .
