Cylinder Head, Removing And Installing: Removing
- During installation, all cable ties must be installed at the same location.
- Cover the opening of the transmission with a cloth, so that no coolant enters the clutch housing.
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Bring the engine support and engine mount into the installation position and tighten the bolts to 20 Nm.
-- Remove the engine support.
-- Remove the connector -2- from the bracket and disconnect them and then free up the wire.
Vehicles with a Particulate Filter:
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- for the pressure lines.
-- Free up the pressure lines.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolt -2- and the screw-type clamp.
-- Remove the nuts -1 and 3- and move the catalytic converter to the side. (Shown with the engine removed.)
-- Remove the Oxygen Sensor 1 before Catalytic Converter -GX10-. Refer to HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Vehicles with a Particulate Filter:
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and nut -1- and remove the heat shield -2-.
-- Disconnect the connector -2-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and move the pressure lines with the Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 -G450- toward the rear.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- on the left and right.
-- Unclip and remove the lower section -1- of the air duct.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2- and remove the air duct hose from the charge air cooler.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 .
-- Loosen the hose clamp -2-.
-- Free up the coolant hose -3-.
-- Remove the screws -arrows-.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- from the Charge Air Pressure Sensor -G31-.
-- Remove the right air duct pipe.
-- Loosen the hose clamps -arrows- and remove the coolant hoses.
Risk of destroying the coolant pipes through deformation.
- Never change the coolant pipe bend shape.
-- Pivot the coolant line -1- to the side.
-- Disconnect the connectors:
1 - For the Oil Pressure Switch -F22- -2-
3 - For the Reduced Oil Pressure Switch -F378- -4-
5 - For the Piston Cooling Nozzle Control Valve -N522- -7-
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- for the front coolant pipe -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and the nut -3- and then remove the bracket -2- for the intake manifold.
-- Disconnect the connectors:
- For the Throttle Valve Control Module -GX3-
- For designation in the wiring diagram Intake Manifold Sensor -GX9-
-- Free up the wiring harness and push to the side.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1-, remove the air duct hose from the charge air cooler.
Vehicles with Transmission Ventilation Hose.
-- Detach the transmission ventilation -1- from the battery tray and set aside by releasing the catch -2- and removing the transmission ventilation upward in direction of -arrow-.
-- Move the transmission ventilation hose to the side.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Free up the coolant hose.
-- Free up the wiring harness -1 and 2- from the air duct pipe.
-- Loosen the screw-type clamp -4-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the air duct pipe.
Vehicles with Secondary Air System:
-- Disconnect the connector -1-.
-- Press the release buttons on both sides and remove the secondary air injection hose -2-.
Continuation for All Vehicles:
-- Remove the connector -3- for the Knock Sensor 1 -G61- from the bracket and disconnect it.
