Lower Timing Chain Cover, Replacing: Installing

-- To prevent contamination of the lubricating system with sealant residue, place a clean cloth over the open engine components.

-- Remove any sealant residue on the cylinder block using a flat blade scraper.

-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.

-- Check that both alignment pins -arrows- for centering the cover are present.

TIP:

Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: about 3 mm).

Cover with 15 Bolts

-- Apply the sealant on the clean sealing surface -arrow 1- and on the edges -arrows 2- of the new cover.

Cover with Eight Bolts

-- Apply the sealant as shown on the clean sealing surface -arrow 1- and on the edges -arrows 2- of the new cover.

Continuation 

-- Immediately attach the cover and tighten the bolts.

-- Install the ribbed belt tensioner. Refer to RIBBED BELT TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the engine support. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Fill the engine oil and check the oil level. Refer to ENGINE OIL .

There are additional procedures depending on the model. Refer to TIMING CHAIN COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
