Right Seal, Replacing, AWD Vehicles

Special tools and workshop equipment required

-- Remove the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, REMOVING .

Small Seal, Removing

-- Lock the : T10397 using the knurled bolt and mount the torque wrench.

-- Turn the Puller - Inner Output Shaft Seal in the seal -2-.

-- Unlock the puller using the knurled bolt and turn again.

-- Remove the seal.

-- If the seal slips, reposition the puller and remove the seal.

Large Seal, Removing

-- Lock the : T10398 using the knurled bolt and mount the torque wrench.

-- Turn the puller to 100 Nm in the seal -1-.

-- Unlock the puller using the knurled bolt and turn again.

-- Remove the seal.

-- If the seal slips, turn the puller to 120 Nm in the seal.

-- Remove the seal.

Small Seal, Installing

-- Insert the : T10399/1 .

-- Place the seal -2- on the : T10399/1 .

-- Install the seal until it stops using the : T10399 .

Large Seal, Installing

-- Place the seal -1- on the : T10400 .

The spring -arrow- points away from the thrust piece.

-- Install the seal until it stops.

-- Turn the thrust piece inside the transmission before removing it.

-- Install the bevel box. Refer to BEVEL BOX, INSTALLING .

-- Check the ATF level and add ATF if necessary. Refer to ATF .
