Lock Carrier, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Drain the coolant. Refer to COOLANT, DRAINING AND FILLING .
-- Remove the coolant hoses from the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Risk of destroying the refrigerant lines by tearing the inner film.
- Never bend the refrigerant lines to a radius smaller than r = 100 mm.
-- Remove the refrigerant lines on the condenser. Refer to CONDENSER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the right side air duct. Refer to RADIATOR AIR DUCT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the headlamps. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Disconnect the connector for the radiator fan -arrow- (different component locations).
-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 3- and free up the wiring harness -2-.
Vehicles with 8-speed automatic transmission:
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 3-.
-- Disengage the ATF cooler -1- downward and pivot to the side.
Continuation:
-- Vehicles with left washer fluid reservoir: loosen the washer fluid reservoir filler neck from the lock carrier. Refer to WASHER FLUID RESERVOIR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Release and disconnect the latch release cable at the coupling and free it up at the lock carrier. Refer to OVERVIEW - RELEASE CABLE .
-- Disconnect the connector -1- and free up the wiring harness.
Pyrotechnical components can deploy unintentionally.
Risk of injury.
- Discharge the static electricity: quickly touch the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- from the pedestrian protection crash sensor and free up the wiring harness.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
-- For reinstallation, mark the installation position of the lock carrier on both sides of the lock carrier -arrow-.
-- Have a second technician hold the lock carrier and remove the bolts -1 and 3-.
-- Remove the lock carrier -2- with a second technician.
-- The following components must also be removed if the lock carrier is being replaced:
- Radiator. Refer to RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Bumper carrier. Refer to BUMPER CARRIER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Hood latch. Refer to HOOD LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- RS Q3: remove the auxiliary radiator. Refer to the appropriate service information .
