Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 6-Cylinder TDI Engine: Removing

-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery when the ignition is switched off. Refer to Battery -A-, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, 0K0 .

6-Cylinder TDI Engine Gen I:

-- Remove the emissions control module. Refer to the appropriate service information .

6-Cylinder TDI Engine Gen II:

-- Loosen the rear coolant pipes on the transmission and push to the side. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CWGD] / COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CYMC] / COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DPAA] .

Equipment Versions with Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50- :

-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Open the retainer in direction of -arrow- and push the Coolant Recirculation Pump -V50- to the side.

Continuation for all:

-- Remove the generator. Refer to Generator -C-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH 3.0L TDI ENGINE, 0K0 .

-- Remove the right engine support. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CWGD] / ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CYMC] / ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DPAA] .

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.
