Starter, Removing And Installing, Vehicles With 6-Cylinder TDI Engine Gen III: Removing

-- Disconnect the ground cable from the battery when the ignition is switched off. Refer to Battery -A-, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING, 0K4 AND VH2 .

-- Remove the emissions control module. Refer to the appropriate service information .

-- Loosen the rear coolant pipes on the transmission and push to the side. Refer to COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CWGD] / COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CYMC] / COOLANT PIPES, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DPAA] .

-- Remove the bolt -arrow-.

-- Remove the starter generator. Refer to Starter Generator -C29-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VEHICLES WITH 3.0L TDI ENGINE GEN III, 0K4 .

-- Remove the right engine support. Refer to ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CWGD] / ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CYMC] / ENGINE SUPPORT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [DPAA] .

-- Remove the bolt -5- and nut -4-.

-- Remove the starter -1-, disconnect the connector -3- and free up the B+ wire -2-.
