Outer Rear Seat Backrest, Removing And Installing, A5 Coupe/SPORTBACK: Removing

-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Right rear seat backrest on 3-person rear seat equipment: remove the rear belt end fitting in the center. Refer to REAR SEAT BELT LATCH, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, 3-PERSON REAR SEAT .

-- Right rear seat backrest with center rear seat backrest: remove the coupling station -1- for the center rear seat backrest release cable from the body.

-- Open the cover for the coupling housing and disengage the release cable bracket -3- from the coupling housing.

-- Disengage the release cable nipple from the mount -2-.

CAUTION:

Risk of malfunction.

When removing and installing the release cable, do not under any circumstances remove the idler roller -1- from the coupling housing.

-- Open the coupling housing cover.

-- Disengage the release cable support bracket -3- from the mount on the coupling housing -arrow-.

-- Disengage the release cable nipple -2- from the idler roller -1-.

-- Fold the rear seat backrests forward.

-- Remove the bolt -1-.

-- Tilt the securing bracket -2- forward and disengage downward from the center bearing -arrow- at the same time.

-- Fold the rear seat backrest -1- slightly forward.

-- Remove the rear seat backrest from the center support -2-.

-- Remove the rear seat backrest from the outer bearing toward the center of the vehicle in direction of -arrow-.

NOTE:

If difficult remove the center bearing. Refer to CENTER BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Remove the backrest from the vehicle.
