- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
There is a risk of damaging the rear seat backrest.
- To reduce the risk of pressure marks in the cover and cushion, the front mounts -arrow- for the bench seat must be covered with the : VAS871001 .
-- Fold the rear seat backrest forward.
-- Bring the convertible top into the service position. Refer to the appropriate Service Information
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the side cushion. Refer to SIDE CUSHION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 CABRIOLET .
-- Remove the side trim panel. Refer to SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 CABRIOLET .
-- Remove the rear belt end fitting. Refer to OUTER REAR BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 CABRIOLET .
-- Loosen the luggage compartment side trim panel in the seat belt area and push to the side.
Risk of injury due to involuntary deployment.
- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Disconnect the connector -2- by releasing the connector lock with a small screwdriver.
-- Remove the bolt -3-.
-- Remove the three-point seat belt -1- upward from the mount.
-- Carefully guide out the seat belt webbing with the belt end fitting and remove the three-point seat belt.
