Front Three-Point Seat Belt, Removing And Installing, A5 Cabriolet: Removing

- Pay attention to the safety precautions when working with pyrotechnic components. Refer to SAFETY PRECAUTIONS WHEN WORKING ON PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS .
- Observe the disposal regulations for pyrotechnic components. Refer to AIRBAG, BELT TENSIONER AND BATTERY CUT-OUT UNITS, STORING, TRANSPORTING AND DISPOSING (PYROTECHNIC COMPONENTS) .
-- Move the front seat all the way forward and up.
-- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on. Refer to BATTERY, DISCONNECTING AND CONNECTING .
-- Remove the front belt end fitting. Refer to FRONT BELT END FITTING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 CABRIOLET .
-- Remove the bench seat. Refer to BENCH SEAT/SINGLE SEAT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the side trim panel. Refer to SIDE TRIM PANEL, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, A5 CABRIOLET .
-- Unclip the seat belt guide -3- from the seat belt relay -1- and fold upward to the side.
-- Guide out the seat belt webbing -4- with the belt end fitting through the seat belt relay.
Vehicles without an Electric Seat Belt Tensioner:

- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Release the connector lock with a small screw driver in direction of -arrow-, and remove the connector for the seat belt tensioner igniter 1 -1-.
-- Remove the bolt -3- and the automatic belt retractor -2- from the mount.
Equipment versions with Electric Belt Tensioner:

- Before handling pyrotechnic components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling it must "discharge static electricity". For example, this can be done by briefly touching the door striker.
-- Pull the connector lock out, then disconnect the connectors -1 and 4- for the seat belt tensioner igniter and seat belt force limiter.
-- Push the release to disconnect the seat belt tensioner control module connector -3-.
-- Free up the wire.
-- Remove the bolts -2 and 5- and then remove the automatic belt retractor from the mount.
