Sealing Flange, Removing And Installing, Belt Pulley Side: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
- Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
- Replace the intake tube with the bolt, seals, crankshaft seal and O-rings after removal.
-- Remove the alignment sleeves -arrows- from the cylinder block.
-- Drive in the alignment sleeves as shown in the corresponding holes on the belt pulley side sealing flange -1- flush to the sealing surface.
Risk of contaminating the lubricating system.
- Cover open engine components.
Risk of injuring the eyes from sealant residue.
- Wear protective eyewear.
-- Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block and the oil pan upper section -1-, for example using a rotating plastic brush.
-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.
- Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.
-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).
-- Apply a thin bead of sealant -arrows- on edge between cylinder block and oil pan upper section.
-- Position the seals -3-.
There is a risk that the lubrication system could be blocked by excess sealant.
- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.
- The sealant bead -2- must be 3.0 mm above the sealing surface.
- Install the sealing flange within five minutes of applying the sealant.
-- Lightly coat the lower sealing surface -1- on sealing flange with sealant.
-- Carefully insert the belt pulley side sealing flange at the same time guide it at an angle from above to the sealing surface on the cylinder block and the oil pan upper section but do not press it on.
- The sealant must not get into the threaded holes.
-- Install all bolts by hand and drive the alignment sleeves in the cylinder block.
-- Tighten the belt pulley side sealing flange bolts.
-- Install the crankshaft seal on the belt pulley side. Refer to CRANKSHAFT SEAL, REPLACING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
-- Install the oil pan lower section. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the Oil Pressure Sensor -G10-. Refer to Oil Pressure Sensor -G10-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the A/C compressor bracket. Refer to SUB-ASSEMBLY BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
There are different procedures depending on the model. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
