Balance Shaft, Removing And Installing: Removing
- The transmission is removed. Refer to the appropriate service information .
-- Remove the camshaft timing chains. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Tighten the :T40049 with the bolts -1 and 2- on the crankshaft.
-- Remove the belt pulley side sealing flange. Refer to SEALING FLANGE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .
Risk of damaging valves and piston crowns.
- Do NOT turn the crankshaft.
-- Remove bolts -arrows- and remove guide rail -1-.
-- Remove guide pins -arrows- and remove the guide rail -1-.
-- On the belt pulley side remove the bolt -arrow- to do so counterhold the crankshaft using the :T40049 . (The balance weight -1- is removed later).
-- Lock the gear backlash on the gear to do so insert the :T40362 all the way in the gear and turn 180° clockwise in direction of -arrow-.
-- Remove the bolt -arrow- to do so counterhold the crankshaft using the :T40049 .
-- Remove the gear -1-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- and remove the balance shaft gear carrier -1-.
-- Remove the balance shaft -2- toward the transmission side from the cylinder block and at the same time remove the balance weight on the belt pulley side.
