Guide Pin
- 5 Nm +45°
- Replace after removing.
Guide Rail
Gear
- With the chain sprocket for the camshaft timing chain
Camshaft Timing Chain
- Removing from the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
- Do not separate from the tensioning rail. Refer to -item 5-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Tensioning Rail
- Do not separate from the camshaft timing chain -item 4-
Mounting Pin
- 23 Nm
Bolt
- 9 Nm
Chain Tensioner
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CHAIN TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Seal
- Replace after removing.
Control Valve
- For the camshaft adjuster
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Installing - Have a second technician tension the :VAS6583 with the Socket :VAS261001 and :T90001 on the camshaft adjuster for the exhaust camshaft to 30 Nm counter-clockwise -arrow- and hold. .
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
Camshaft Adjuster
- For the exhaust camshaft
- Allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- After removal replace the friction disc (diamond disc) -item 13-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
Friction Disc (Diamond Disc)
- Replace after removing.
- For the connection security between the camshaft adjuster and camshaft end
- Bring the new friction disc (diamond disc) without kinking into its installation position
Camshaft Adjuster
- For the intake camshaft
- Allocation. Refer to the Parts Information.
- After removal replace the friction disc (diamond disc) -item 15-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
Friction Disc (Diamond Disc)
- Replace after removing.
- For the connection security between the camshaft adjuster and camshaft end
- Bring the new friction disc (diamond disc) without kinking into its installation position
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
Control Valve
- For the camshaft adjuster
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Installing - Have a second technician tension the :VAS6583 with the Socket :VAS261001 and :T90001 on the camshaft adjuster for the exhaust camshaft to 30 Nm counter-clockwise -arrow- and hold. .
Gliding Piece
- Replace after removing.
Guide Pin
- 5 Nm +45°
- Replace after removing.
Guide Pin
- 5 Nm +45°
- Replace after removing.

Tensioning Rail
Camshaft Timing Chain
- Mark the running direction with paint for reinstallation
- Removing from the camshafts. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Chain Tensioner
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CHAIN TENSIONER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
Bolt
- 9 Nm
Seal
- Replace after removing.
Gliding Piece
- Replace after removing.
Control Valve
- For the camshaft adjuster
- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Installing - Have a second technician tension the :VAS6583 with the Socket :VAS261001 and :T90001 on the camshaft adjuster for the exhaust camshaft to 30 Nm counter-clockwise -arrow- and hold. .
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.
Camshaft Adjuster

- Bring the new friction disc (diamond disc) without kinking into its installation position

- For the exhaust camshaft

- After removal replace the friction disc (diamond disc) -item 12-
- Removing and Installing. Refer to CAMSHAFT TIMING CHAIN, REMOVING FROM CAMSHAFTS .
O-Ring
- Replace after removing.

- Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Installing - Have a second technician tension the :VAS6583 with the Socket :VAS261001 and :T90001 on the camshaft adjuster for the exhaust camshaft to 30 Nm counter-clockwise -arrow- and hold. .
