Chain TENSIONER, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Remove the affected upper timing chain cover. Refer to TIMING CHAIN GUARD UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Using the :T40263  and :T40314  , turn the crankshaft -arrow- until the vibration damper is at "BDC" (shown on a 3.0L engine).

• The marks -1- on the camshaft adjusters must align with the corresponding locating tabs -arrows- 120° offset on the camshaft housing. If necessary turn the crankshaft an additional turn.

-- Push back the pistons of the chain tensioner -3- using a screwdriver -1- all the way -arrow- and lock the chain tensioner using the :T03006  .

TIP:

The piston is lubricated with oil and can only be pushed back slowly by applying constant pressure.

-- Remove the bolts -2 and 4- and the chain tensioner.

-- Turn back the guide rail -3- in direction of -arrow- and pistons from the chain tensioner -1- using the :T03006  .
