WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2022 Audi S5, 2022 Audi RS 5, 2021 Audi S5, 2021 Audi RS 5, and 2020 Audi S5. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Procedure

Depending on the model, preliminary work may be required. Refer to CHARGE AIR SYSTEM, CHECKING FOR LEAKS .

Prepare the :VAG1687  as follows:

GWWN26-11343Courtesy of AUDI OF AMERICA, LLC

-- Completely remove the pressure regulating valve -2- and close the valves -3 and 4-.

-- Connect the :VAG1687  to the compressed air -1- with a commercially available intermediate piece.

-- Drain the water in the viewing glass via the water drain plug -6-.

-- Open the valve -3-.

CAUTION:

Risk of damaging the components if the pressure is set too high.

- Never set the test pressure above the specified adjustment.

-- Set the pressure to 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) using the pressure control valve -2-.

-- Open the valve -4- and wait until the test circuit is filled. Regulate the pressure to 0.2 bar (2.9 psi) again if necessary.

-- Listen, feel and use commercially available leak detection spray or the :VAG1842  to check the charge air system for leaks. Refer to the Owner's Manual.

TIP:

A small quantity of air dissipates via the valves in the engine. For this reason a pressure retention test is not possible.

-- Release the pressure in the test circuit by removing the hose coupling before removing the adapter.

Assembling

Assemble in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
