Overview - Oil Pan/Oil Pump, Version 1

• If large quantities of metal shavings or abraded material are found in the engine oil while servicing the engine, the oil passages must be carefully cleaned to prevent subsequent damage. Replace the additional oil spray jet, engine oil cooler and oil filter. 
• Oil spray jet and pressure relief valve. Refer to OVERVIEW - PISTONS AND CONNECTING ROD .

1. Nut
   • 9 Nm
2. Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Oil Level Thermal Sensor -G266-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Seal
   • Always replace
4. Bolt
   • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 2.
   • Always replace after removing.
5. Seal
   • For oil pan lower plastic sections only
   • Always replace after removing.
6. O-Ring
   • Always replace after removing.
   • Coat with engine oil
7. Bolt
   • 4 Nm + 45°
   • Always replace after removing.
8. Suction Line
   • Clean the screen if there are debris
9. O-Ring
   • Always replace after removing.
   • Coat with engine oil
10. Oil Pump
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PUMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
11. Centering Bracket
12. O-Ring
    • Always replace
    • Coat with engine oil
13. Bolt
    • Tightening specification. Refer to -item  ) OVERVIEW - OIL PRESSURE SWITCH/OIL REGULATION, VEHICLES WITH GENERATOR - List Item: Bolt.
    • Always replace after removing.
14. Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
15. Chain Tensioner
16. Oil Pump Drive Chain
    • Mark the running direction before removal
17. Bolt
    • 9 Nm
18. Cylinder Block
19. Oil Screen
20. Centering Bracket
21. Oil Pan Upper Section
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
22. Bolt
    • Tightening Specifications and Sequence. Refer to Fig 4.
    • Always replace after removing.
23. O-Ring
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Coat with engine oil
24. Bolt
    • 4 Nm + 45°
    • Always replace after removing.
25. Oil Return Pipe
26. Bolt
    • 8 Nm + 90°
    • Always replace after removing.
27. Oil Baffle
    • Always replace after removing.
28. Bolt
    • 4 Nm + 45°
    • Always replace after removing.
29. Oil Pan Lower Section
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information for the allocation.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to OIL PAN LOWER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, VERSION 1 .
30. O-Ring
    • Always replace after removing.
    • Seal for sheet metal oil pan lower sections
    • O-ring for plastic oil pan lower sections
    • Coat the O-ring with engine oil
31. Oil Drain Plug or Plug
    • Oil Drain Plug 30 Nm
    • Tighten sealing plug all the way
    • Oil drain plug for sheet metal oil pan lower section
    • Plug for plastic oil pan lower section

• Replace the bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.

-- Tighten the bolts in the steps shown in the sequence:
