Overview - Microphone Unit, Cabriolet

The microphone unit is comprised of the Microphone Unit in Front Roof Module -R164- and the Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- with the seat belt microphones.

The Microphone Unit In Front Roof Module -R164- is installed in the Front Interior Lamp -W1-. Up to three microphones may be installed, depending on the equipment.

One microphone (Interior Microphone -R74-) is connected directly to the Digital Sound System Control Module -J525-. The other microphone is connected to the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- /Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886-.

The Microphone Unit in Front Roof Module -R164- in the Front Interior Lamp -W1- can be replaced only as a complete unit. Replacing the individual microphones is not possible.

For IW3, the Left Front Microphone -R140- is connected to the Data Bus on Board Diagnostic Interface -J533- and is >>looped through<< at the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.

2. Right Seat Belt Microphones
   • Cannot be replaced individually
   • Refer to FRONT THREE-POINT SEAT BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Left Seat Belt Microphones
   • Cannot be replaced individually
   • Refer to FRONT THREE-POINT SEAT BELT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
4. Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886-
   • Connector Assignment. Refer to the appropriate Wiring Diagram.
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to SEAT BELT MICROPHONE CONTROL MODULE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

2. Left Front Microphone -R140-, gray to the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- /Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886-
3. Interior Microphone -R74- (black) to Digital Sound System Control Module -J525-

The Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- is located under the left front seat. The seat belt microphones and the Left Front Microphone -R140- are connected to the Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886-.

The Seat Belt Microphone Control Module -J886- evaluates the signals and transmits the best signal to the Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.
