Gear Oil, Checking Level

• The bevel box is attached to the side of the transmission and has it own oil system.
• Axle oil specification. Refer to the 2019 VEHICLE FLUID CAPACITIES , 2020 FLUID CAPACITY TABLES (USA AND CANADA) or 2021 FLUID CAPACITY TABLES (USA AND CANADA) .

Procedure 

• Replace the fluid filler hole plug after removal.

• Move the vehicle onto a four-column workshop hoist or over a work pit so it is completely level.
• The engine is off.

-- Remove the one piece or front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .

-- If necessary, remove the nuts -arrows- and remove the right drive axle heat shield.

-- Remove the oil filler hole plug -1-.

• Specified value: gear oil level up to lower edge of the oil filler hole.

-- Add gear oil if necessary. Refer to GEAR OIL, DRAINING AND FILLING .

-- Install the drive axle heat shield. Refer to DRIVE AXLE HEAT SHIELD, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Tightening Specifications 

• Oil filler hole plug. Refer to Figure
• Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
