Fuel Tank, Draining, Vehicles With TDI Engine, Fuel Delivery Unit (Fuel Pump) Not Faulty
Special tools and workshop equipment required
- Vehicle Diagnostic Tester
- Fuel Extractor: VAS5190A
- Extraction Adapter: VAS5190/8
Procedure
-- Attach the adapter : VAS5190/8 -2- to the suction hose -1- on the : VAS5190A .
-- Open the fuel filler door.
-- Remove the fuel filler neck cap -arrow-.
-- Remove the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CXYA] or ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CZSE] .
-- Disconnect the fuel supply hose -arrow- to the high pressure pump. Refer to CONNECTOR COUPLINGS, DISCONNECTING .
-- Connect the suction hose with the : VAS5190/8 to the supply hose from the fuel tank.
-- Activate the : VAS5190A .
-- Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester as well.
-- Switch the ignition on.
-- Select the OBD mode.
-- Select 0001 - Engine electronics .
-- Select "Control module OBD" Basic setting in the control module basic setting menu item.
-- Select Transfer fuel pump test from the list.
-- Press Start .
- The fuel pump starts.
TIP:
The basic setting will run for four minutes. Restart the basic setting after that if necessary.
-- When no more fuel is being extracted, press Stop .
Assembling
Assemble in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
-- Install the engine cover. Refer to ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CXYA] or ENGINE COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING [CZSE] .
