Rear Axle Steering Gear, Moving Into Zero Position

An angle up to 4.8° is still possible when the vehicle is stationary. Therefore, the rear axle steering gear must be brought into the zero position before an axle alignment or before calibrating any driver assistance systems.

• This is the only way to ensure that the rear axle steering is in the straight-ahead position.

-- Switch the ignition on.

-- Select and start the Diagnostic  operating mode.

-- Select the Test plan  tab.

-- Select the Select individual test  button and select the following tree structure consecutively:

• Diagnostic-Capable Systems 
• 00CB - Rear axle steering J1019 
• 00CB - Rear axle steering control module functions 
• 00CB - Adaptation 

-- Start the selected program and follow the instructions on the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester display.

• With the 'Adaptation' function, the rear axle steering can be deactivated (rear axle steering secured) and deactivated (rear axle steering not secured). If the rear axle steering was deactivated via the 'Adaptation' function, the rear axle steering must be reactivated after the procedure is complete.
