DLC Cable Connections, Testing
DLCs and the wiring connections -K- and -L- for all vehicle systems with On Board Diagnostic (On Board Diagnostic) are located in auxiliary relay panel I (in plenum chamber, left)
=> Wiring Diagram
For wiring colors and details of other vehicle systems connected to the white DLC
=> Wiring Diagram
- Switch off ignition before testing wiring connections.
- For testing, use digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119) or equivalent, VW 1594 connector test kit, and : VAG1598/20 test box.
-- Test voltage supply for scan tool: VAG1551 at black data link connector socket.
Black DLC, Power Supply
- Terminal 1: Ground
- Terminal 2: B+ (positive)
-- Check wiring according to wiring diagrams.
-- Test data transfer wiring connections -L- and -K- at white data link connector socket.
White DLC, Data Transfer
- Terminal 1: not required for brake electronics
- Terminal 2: data line for "Rapid data transfer"
DLC wiring is routed via wiring connection -K- to the ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- Test Box VAG 1598/20, Connecting for Wiring Test .
-- Connect : VAG1598/20 test box to ABS Control Module (w/EDL) -J104- - connector Test Box VAG 1598/20, Connecting for Wiring Test , and measure at appropriate test box sockets (=> Wiring Diagram
-- Use digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119) or equivalent to check for open circuit between test box socket -46- and white DLC connector terminal 2.
If there is a short circuit to positive or to Ground (GND), it is not possible to pinpoint the malfunction without isolating the various systems in the vehicle with On Board Diagnostic (On Board Diagnostic) and "Rapid data transfer" capability.
If no malfunction is found in the wiring, and the supply voltage at the ABS control module is in order (at least 10.5 V):
-- Replace ABS control module.
