Driver Or Passenger Seat Does Not Adjust

6-point connector

Voltage supply to seat, checking
-- Disconnect 6-point connector under seat-- Set multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measure voltage, and connect red test lead to terminal 2 of 6-point connector and black test lead to Ground (GND)
  • Must be approximately 12 volts
-- Connect red test lead to terminal 2 and black test lead to terminal 5 of 6-point connector
  • Must be approximately 12 volts
One or both specified readings NOT OK Specified reading OK
                               
-- Check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram or, Go to B next chart     Go to D

Voltage supply to power seat circuit breakers -S44- and/or -S80-, checking
-- Depending which seat is inoperative, pull out power seat circuit breaker (-S44- or -S80-) from auxiliary relay panel 1, below
-- Connect red test lead of multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to contact 1 and black test lead to contact 2
  • Must be approximately 12 volts

-- Check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram     Go to C next chart

Circuit breakers, -S44-, -S80-, checking continuity
Note: Remove circuit breaker and wait at least 5 minutes before testing. Circuit breaker automatically closes when cools down. -- Set multimeter (Fluke 83 or equivalent) to measure resistance (Ω), and connect test leads between terminals 1 and 2 of circuit breaker being tested
  • Must read approximately 0 Ω

Seat adjustment control switches, checking voltage supply
-- Remove seat side trim SEAT SIDE TRIM AND ADJUSTMENT SWITCH  Driver's seat -- Disconnect multiple plug on switch assembly-- Set multimeter to measure voltage-- Connect red test lead to terminal 2, black test lead to terminal 9
  • Must read approximately 12 volts
-- Connect red test lead to terminal 3, black test lead to terminal 10
  • Must read approximately 12 volts
Passenger seat -- Disconnect multiple plug on switch assembly-- Set multimeter to measure voltage-- Connect red test lead to terminal 9, black test lead to terminal 2
  • Must read approximately 12 volts
-- Connect red test lead to terminal 10, black test lead to terminal 3
One or more specified readings NOT OK Specified readings OK
                               
-- Check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram   -- Replace seat adjustment switch
