Sealing Flange, Removing And Installing, Belt Pulley Side: Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal while noting the following:

Replace bolts that were tightened with an additional turn after removing them.
Replace the crankshaft seals and O-ring after removal.

To prevent contamination of the lubricating system with sealant residue, place a clean cloth over the open engine component.

CAUTION:

Risk of injuring the eyes from sealant residue.

- Wear protective eyewear.

-- Remove the sealant residue on the cylinder block and the oil pan upper section -1-, for example using a rotating plastic brush.

-- Clean any oil or grease off the sealing surfaces.

Be sure to check the expiration date of the sealant.

-- Cut the tube nozzle at the front marking (nozzle diameter: approximately 1.5 mm).

-- Check if the alignment pin -arrows- are inserted in the sealing flange.

-- Position the O-ring -2-.

CAUTION:

There is a risk that the lubrication system could be blocked by excess sealant.

- Do not apply sealant bead thicker than indicated.

The sealant bead -1- must be 3.0 mm above the sealing surface.
Install the sealing flange within five minutes of applying the sealant.

-- Position the belt pulley side sealing flange carefully on the cylinder block, at the same time pay attention to the alignment pins, but do not press the sealing flange with the sealant bead.

The sealant must not get into the threaded holes.

-- Next install all sealing flange bolts by hand and then tighten.

-- Install the crankshaft seal on the belt pulley side. Refer to CRANKSHAFT SEAL, REPLACING, BELT PULLEY SIDE .

-- Install the oil pan upper section. Refer to OIL PAN UPPER SECTION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-. Refer to Oil Pressure Regulation Valve -N428-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the A/C compressor bracket. Refer to A/C COMPRESSOR BRACKET, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Install the vibration damper. Refer to VIBRATION DAMPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
