Charge Air System, Checking For Leaks

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Turbo System Tester Kit:V.A.G 1687

• Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter 6V:V.A.G 1687/6  and Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter 10V:V.A.G 1687/10

Procedure 

-- Pay attention to the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .

-- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Connect the Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter 6V:V.A.G 1687/6  on the left upper air duct pipe.

-- Connect the hose -2- from the Turbo System Tester Kit:V.A.G 1687  to the adapter.

-- Seal the right upper air duct pipe with the Turbo System Tester Kit - Adapter 10V:V.A.G 1687/10  .

-- Seal the hole in the adapter with a connector coupling -arrow-.

Assembling

• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that match the ones used in series production. Refer to the Parts Information.

-- Install the air filter housing. Refer to AIR FILTER HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

Tightening Specifications

• Refer to OVERVIEW - CHARGE AIR HOSE CONNECTIONS .
