SUBFRAME, Removing And Installing: Removing

-- Secure the subframe. Refer to SUBFRAME, SECURING .

-- Remove the left and right rear brake caliper. Refer to BRAKE CALIPER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Equipped on some models: remove the driveshaft from the rear final drive and tie it up. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Equipped on some models: disconnect the connectors -arrows- for the Rear Axle Steering Control Module - J1019- and free up the wires.

Final Drive 0D3 "quattro sport" : 

-- Remove the bolts -arrows-, and remove the bracket -1- from the rear final drive.

-- Label and disconnect the connectors -2- for the oil pressure/temperature sensor and at the clutch valves.

-- Disconnect the connector -4- at the All Wheel Drive Pump -V415-.

-- Unclip the wiring harness -3- from the final drive -5, 6 and 7- and tie it up.

Final drive 0B0 "quattro ultra" :

-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2-.

-- Remove the wiring guide from the final drive and free up the wire.

-- Equipped on some models: disconnect the left and right connector -arrow- from the rear level control system sensor and free up the wire.

-- Disconnect the left and right connector -1- for the speed sensor.

-- Separate the threaded connection -arrow- on the left and right sides.

Versions with Air Suspension:

-- Remove the left and right connecting pieces -arrow- from the rear air spring.

-- Seal both connections.

TIP:

If the air line is removed from a component, check if the cutting ring is seated on the air line.

-- Remove the left and right bolt -arrow-, and free up the bracket -1- with the wires.

-- Lower the subframe with the : VAS6931  . Free up the SCR line if necessary to do so.

• Pay attention to the clearance to the surrounding components when lowering the subframe.
