Right Side Mirror Does Not Adjust Downward With Vehicle In Reverse

Digital multimeter Fluke 83 (US 1119)
Test box: VAG 1598 with harness adapter: VAG 1598/4

NOTE:

Always refer to appropriate wiring diagram.

Test Conditions

Battery OK
Fuse 8 OK
Fuse 15 OK
Fuse 9 OK
Rear seat bench removed. Refer to REAR SEAT, WAGON .


	Back-up Light Switch on Mirror Memory Control Module, Checking
	-- Switch ignition ON.-- Connect : VAG 1598 with harness : 1598/4 to mirror memory control module.-- Set multimeter to measure voltage and connect red test lead to terminal 3 and black test lead to terminal 24 of : VAG 1598 .-- Move shift lever into reverse position. Must read approximately 12 V.
	Specified values NOT OK					Specified values OK

	-- Replace back-up light switch or,-- Check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram.

	Voltage to right side mirror from mirror control module, when vehicle in reverse, checking
	-- Press button on center console to activate right side mirror.-- Switch ignition ON.-- Place shift into reverse position.-- Set multimeter to measure voltage and connect red test lead to terminal 16 and black test lead to terminal 25 of : VAG 1598 . Must read approximately 12 volts while mirror is moving.
	Specified values NOT OK					Specified values OK

	-- Replace mirror memory control module.					-- Check and repair wiring according to wiring diagram or -- Replace right side mirror assembly.
