Needle Bearing In Drive Plate, Replacing

Special tools and workshop equipment required 

• Press Piece - 31.5mm: VW418A 
• Press Piece - 28x100mm: VW421 
• Bearing Installer - Multiple Use: 40-103 

Only available with the manual transmission a needle bearing is installed in the drive plate.

Procedure 

• The transmission is removed. Refer to the appropriate Service Information .

-- Remove the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .

-- Place the : 40-103  under the drive plate to remove and install.

-- Press out the needle bearing using : VW421  and workshop press.

• The smaller diameter of : VW421  faces the drive plate.

-- Carefully press the needle bearing in all the way using : VW418A  and workshop press.

• Installed position: the closed side of the needle bearing faces the engine.

-- Install the drive plate. Refer to DRIVE PLATE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
