Transmission Fluid Level, Checking: Procedure

NOTE: General Repair Instructions.

NOTE: Guidelines for clean working conditions.

NOTE: Do not exchange the transmission fluid (MTF) chamber with the ATF chamber

NOTE: Repalce the plug for the inspection and fill hole.

Transmission fluid temperature at approximately 20°C, 68°F (room temperature).
Move vehicle onto a four-pillar workshop hoist or over a work pit so that it is absolutely horizontal.
The transmission must be still for at least 15 minutes to make sure the oil settles internally.

Remove the rear noise insulation. Refer to NOISE INSULATION, REMOVING AND INSTALLING
Equipped on some models: remove the bolts - arrows - and nut -2-.

Remove the end panel - 1- for the crossbrace.
WARNING: Danger of eye injury. Wear protective eyewear.
Remove the plug - arrow - for the right inspection and fill hole on the transmission housing with the - T400887 -.
- The manual transmission fluid (MTF) must be 2 mm from the lower edge of the inspection and fill hole.
- If the oil level is not correct, fill the transmission fluid.
