Charge Air Cooler, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Observe the guidelines for clean working conditions. Refer to GUIDELINES FOR CLEAN WORKING CONDITIONS .
-- Remove the radiator. Refer to RADIATOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the front bumper cover. Refer to BUMPER COVER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Loosen the clamps -1 and 2- and remove the air duct hose.
-- Seal the open lines and connections with clean plugs from the Engine Bung Set: VAS6122 .
Vehicles with Automatic Transmission
Remove the bolts -2 and 3- and tie up the ATF cooler -1- to the side.
Continuation for all vehicles:
-- Remove the side air guides for the radiator. Refer to OVERVIEW - LOCK CARRIER .
-- Radiator mount with catch: disconnect the left and right catches -arrows- of the radiator mount with a side cutter, push the radiator together with a charge air cooling circuit cooler on the top slightly toward the rear. (The radiator mount can be reused).
-- Radiator mount with threaded connection: remove the left and right bolt -arrow- and at the same time push the radiator together with the charge air cooler slightly toward the rear.
-- Unclip the left and right air duct -1- downward.
-- Release the left and right catches -1- and disengage the condenser -3- from the charge air cooler -2-.
-- Secure the condenser to the lock carrier.
-- Remove the charge air cooler downward.
