Tunnel CROSSMEMBER, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Remove the rear noise insulations. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- from the front exhaust pipe.
-- Release the retainers in direction of -arrows A- and slide the sleeve -1- on the emergency release cable in direction of -arrow B-.
-- Disconnect the rear emergency release cable from the front emergency release cable in direction of -arrow C-.
-- Mount the Engine/Gearbox Jack - Gearbox Support:T10337 on the Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 and attach it under the transmission.
To prevent damage to the driveshaft heat shield, place a suitable piece of wood -arrow- underneath as shown.
-- Raise the transmission slightly.
There is the risk of an accident.
- The Engine and Gearbox Jack:VAS6931 must not be lowered during assembly and must not sit unsupervised under the vehicle.
Vehicles with a TDI Engine
-- Release and disconnect the connectors -1 and 2-.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows-.
-- Free up the wires.
-- Secure the bracket using the NOx Sensor Control Module 2 -J881- and Particulate Sensor -G784- to the exhaust pipe.
Continuation for All Vehicles
-- Remove the bolts from the tunnel crossmember -arrows-.
-- Remove the nuts -arrows- and slightly lower the tunnel crossmember.
-- Remove the bolt -1- and free up the rear emergency release cable -2-.
-- Remove the tunnel crossmember.
