Safety Precautions When Working On Vehicle
Risk of being poisoned by exhaust fumes.
The parking/auxiliary heater produces poisonous exhaust when operating. Injuries to the respiratory tracts and poisoning are possible.
-- In closed areas, only turn on the parking/auxiliary heater with exhaust extraction.
-- Turn off the parking/auxiliary heater in closed area without exhaust extraction.
Risk of injury due to an activated parking heater and A/C
The parking heater and A/C can switch on unintentionally on electric and hybrid vehicles with an activated parking heater and A/C. Bodyparts can be pinched or pulled by self-actuating radiator fans.
-- Deactivate the parking heater and A/C.
Risk of accident due to the uncontrolled movement of the vehicle
With the engine running the uncontrolled movement of the vehicle can be possible if a selector lever position is engaged.
-- Place the selector lever into the "P" position.
-- Engage the parking brake.
There is a risk of injury with the radiator fan
Bodyparts can be pinched or pulled by self-actuating radiator fans.
-- Maintain distance to the fan when working near the radiator.
-- Do not reach into the radiator fan when disconnecting the connector.
-- Disconnect the connectors.
Risk of destroying the electronic components.
Risk of destroying electronic components when disconnecting the battery.
-- Always turn off the ignition before disconnecting the battery.
