Spring, Removing And Installing, Coil Spring: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
-- Insert the bottom of the coil spring in the : VAS6274 . Refer to Figure for the installation position.
-- Position the coil spring in the : VAS6274 at the -arrow- corresponding mark.
TIP:
The opposite mark applies to the Audi Q7/Q8 coil springs.
R - Left Side of Vehicle
L - Right Side of Vehicle
-- Insert the : VAS6274/12-2 . Install the : VAS6274/12-7 with the : VAS6274/5 .
-- Secure the piston with the securing lever -1-.
-- Insert the : VAS6274/12-1 .
-- Install the anti-twist mechanism bolts -1- loosely.
-- Insert the : VAS6274/10-4 .
-- Install the 130 mm long centering spring -2- until stop.
-- Tighten the anti-twist mechanism bolts -1- lightly by hand. The anti-twist mechanism must face upward when tightening the coil spring.
-- Tension the coil spring using the : VAS6274/6 . At the same time tension using the : VAS6274 and the : VAS6179 .
There Is a Risk of Damaging the Spring Tensioning System by Twisting.
- Make sure the bolts in the locking mechanism are not in contact with the stop on the pressure plate.
-- Only tighten the coil spring as far as the mark -1- applied. At the same time the anti-twist mechanism -2- must face upward.
-- When tensioning via the spindle -3-, make sure the centering sleeve -4- does not slip out of the : VAS6274/12-1 .
-- Release the : VAS6274 and remove the coil spring with the tensioner.
-- If necessary slightly re-tension the coil spring -2- via the : VAS6274/10-4 -item 1-.
- The spindle must only project far enough over the coil spring that the upper spring plate can still rest completely on the coil spring.
-- Bring the coil spring and the spring plate into the installation position. Refer to Figure.
-- Install the shock absorber. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
