Shock Absorber, Removing And Installing: Removing
-- Versions with coil springs: determine the curb weight position. Refer to WHEEL BEARING, LIFTING TO CURB WEIGHT POSITION, VEHICLES WITH COIL SPRING .
-- Versions with air suspension: determine the standard vehicle height. Refer to WHEEL BEARING AT STANDARD VEHICLE HEIGHT, LIFTING VEHICLES WITH AIR SUSPENSION .
-- Remove the rear wheel. Refer to WHEELS AND TIRES .
-- Remove the wind deflector for the lower rear transverse link. Refer to WIND DEFLECTOR, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, FASTENING PIN VERSION WITH FASTENER .
-- Turn the wheel hub, until a wheel bolt hole is at the top.
Risk of Destroying the Wheel Bearing When Installing the Wheel Bolt
- Install a washer on the wheel bolt so that the wheel bolt does not press again the wheel bearing.
-- Install the : T10149 with a wheel bolt -2- and inserted washer -1- on the wheel hub.
-- Insert the : T10149 in the : VAS6931 . Raise the wheel bearing housing slightly.
There Is a Risk of an Accident When Lowering the Vehicle When the Engine and Gearbox Jack Is Underneath It.
- Never lower the vehicle when the engine and gearbox jack is underneath it.
- Never leave the engine and gearbox jack under the vehicle any longer than necessary.
-- Disconnect the connector -1-, if equipped.
-- Remove the bolts -arrows- on the upper shock absorber fastener.
-- Disconnect the connector -1- and remove the shock absorber -2-.
