Overview - Suspension Strut, Shock Absorber, Spring And Air Spring
- Rear Lower Transverse Link
- Air Spring
- Removing and Installing. Refer to SPRING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING, AIR SPRING .
- Installation position. Refer to Fig 2.
- O-Ring
- Replace if leaking
- Air Line
- If the air line is removed from a component, check if the cutting ring is seated on the air line.
- Connecting piece tightening specification. Refer to OVERVIEW - AIR LINES .
- Retainer
Air Spring Installed Position
-- When filling the air suspension system check the installation position of the air suspension system:
- The positioning pins for the air spring -2- must engage at the top in the holes in the body -3- and at the bottom in the holes in the rear transverse link -4-.
- The catches -arrows- must engage audibly in the rear lower transverse link.
- The catches must engage with the retainer -1-.
Shock Absorber
- Nut
- Always replace after removing
- Tightening specification. Refer to -Item ) OVERVIEW - SUSPENSION STRUT, SHOCK ABSORBER, SPRING AND COIL SPRING - List Item: Nut.
- Rear Lower Transverse Link
- Removing and Installing. Refer to REAR LOWER TRANSVERSE LINK, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Shock Absorber
- Because of different shock absorber valve systems, only install new shock absorbers from the same manufacturer on both axles, if possible.
- Removing and Installing. Refer to SHOCK ABSORBER, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
- Connector
- Grommet
- Cap
- Nut
- 35 Nm
- Always replace after removing
- Shock Absorber Mount
- Bolt
- 50 Nm + 90°
- Always replace after removing
- Additional Spring
- Protective Cover
- Installed in the groove on the additional spring
- Bolt
