Fan Shroud, Removing And Installing: Removing
The cooling system is under pressure when the engine is warm. There is a risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
Scalding the skin and other parts of the body is possible.
- Wear safety gloves.
- Wear protective eyewear.
- Reduce the pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening it.
-- Open the coolant expansion tank cap -1- by releasing the catch -arrow-.
-- Remove the front noise insulation. Refer to OVERVIEW - NOISE INSULATION .
-- Remove the left and right headlamp housing with mount. Refer to HEADLAMP, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
-- Remove the bolts -5- and tilt the hood release bracket -1- upward.
-- Remove the left and right catches -4- and remove the upper air duct -3-.
-- Place the Shop Crane - Drip Tray:VAS 6208 underneath.
-- Loosen the hose clamp -1- and remove the coolant hose and let the coolant drain out.
There is a risk of injury if the radiator fan turns on by itself.
- When performing procedures near the radiator maintain a distance to the radiator.
-- Disconnect the connectors -1 and 2- for the radiator fan.
-- Lift the clamps -1 and 2-, and remove and free up the connection from the radiator.
-- Remove the left and right air duct, to do so turn the front brace slightly -arrow-.
-- Release the left and right catches -arrows- and remove the retaining pin -1- for the radiator upward.
-- Push the radiator module slightly forward at the same time push the left and right air ducts carefully to the center of the vehicle.
-- Secure the radiator module with suitable service equipment.
-- Press the fan shroud left and right locking tabs at the same time -arrow- and remove the fan shroud upward from the radiator.
