Overview - Front Heater And A/C Unit Attachments, Air Distribution Box, Heat EXCHANGER, Etc.

1. Insulation
   • Between the air duct in the air distribution box and in the resonator chamber present in the air intake manifold.
2. Evaporator Housing
   • With the evaporator installed by the manufacturer
   • There are different versions of the evaporator from the manufacturer and the replacement evaporator. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • Depending on the version, further removal may not be necessary. Refer to OVERVIEW - EVAPORATOR HOUSING .
   • Evaporator, Removing and Installing. Refer to EVAPORATOR IN FRONT HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to FRONT HEATER AND A/C UNIT EVAPORATOR HOUSING, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
3. Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-
   • On RHD vehicles, the Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263- is installed from the left side into the evaporator housing of the heater and A/C unit (in the area behind the coolant pipes for the heat exchanger).
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to Evaporator Vent Temperature Sensor -G263-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
4. Plug
   • Refer to the Parts Information for the plugs.
   • Only present on a heater and A/C unit, on which cleaning of the evaporator has taken place. Refer to EVAPORATOR IN FRONT HEATER AND A/C UNIT, CLEANING WITH Suction Feed Spray Gun .
5. Cap
   • For the connection to the glove compartment cooling
   • Not present on the glove compartment cooling
6. Catch
   • Open carefully
7. Heater Core for the Heater
   • Check the glued-on foam seals for damage and proper bonding
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
8. Screw
   • 1 Nm
9. Heat Exchanger Cover
   • For vehicles without an Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
   • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, PREPARING FOR REMOVAL .
10. Heat Exchanger Cover
    • For vehicles with an Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, PREPARING FOR REMOVAL  and Auxiliary Heater Control Module .
11. Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- with Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-
    • Installed depending on the equipment and engine
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Auxiliary Heater Control Module .
12. Zone Partition Grille
    • For vehicles without an Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604-. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • There are different versions. Refer to the Parts Information.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, PREPARING FOR REMOVAL .
13. Rubber Bushing
    • Mounted on the pins for the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-
14. Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-
    • Check the Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-. Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Right Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G262-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
15. Heater and A/C Unit Air Distribution Box with Evaporator
    • Heater and A/C Unit with Evaporator, Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Air Distribution Box Actuators, Removing and Installing at Heater and A/C Unit. Refer to OVERVIEW - FRONT ADJUSTMENT MOTORS .
    • Evaporator, Removing and Installing. Refer to EVAPORATOR IN FRONT HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
    • Air Intake Manifold, Removing and installing. Refer to AIR INTAKE MANIFOLD FROM HEATER AND A/C UNIT, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
16. Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-
    • Check the Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261- using the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester in the "Guided Fault Finding"  function.
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to Left Footwell Vent Temperature Sensor -G261-, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
17. Screw-Type Clamp
    • Replace after removing.
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
18. Screw
    • 2 Nm
    • Removing and Installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
19. O-Ring
    • Replace after removing.
    • Coat lightly with coolant before installing. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
20. Coolant Pipe Spacer
    • Is clipped in on both coolant pipes
    • Depending on vehicle equipment
21. Coolant Pipe to Heater Core
    • Coolant return
    • The coolant pipe can be replaced only with the heater and A/C unit removed
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
22. Coolant Pipe to Heater Core
    • Coolant supply
    • The coolant pipe can be replaced only with the heater and A/C unit removed
    • Removing and installing on the heater core. Refer to HEATER CORE, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
