Auxiliary Heater Control Module:J604 (WITH Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-), REMOVING AND INSTALLING: Installing
Install in reverse order of removal and note the following:
-- Remove the bolts -B- and the cover -A- for the right heat exchanger.
-- With the cover -A- removed, check the installation slot -C- of the heater and A/C unit (with the heater core) for contamination and remove any dirt.
-- Via the installation slot -C- (with the cover -A- removed) check the foam seals on the heat exchanger.
- With the cover -A- for the right heat exchanger removed a better view in the installation slot of the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- and the heat exchanger can be obtained.
- Via the foam seal -B- a separation takes place between the right and the left side on the heat exchanger -A-. The foam seal -C- serves as a separation for the front and rear air duct.
-- Check the foam seal -B- and -C- as well as the visible section of the foam seal -D- and the heater core -A- for damage.
-- Check the foam seal -B- and -C- for the correct bonding on the heat exchanger -A-.
- If the foam seals -B- and -C- are damaged or not bonded correctly, they may loosen when moving the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) and depending on the setting, may cause problems in the separation and control of vent temperatures from the left to right side as well as between the front and rear. Noises can also result.
- If the foam seals -B- or -C- are not bonded correctly, bond it firmly or replace it. Refer to the Parts Information.
- If the foam seals -B-, -C- or -D- are damaged, replace them. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Check the foam seal -C- on the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -B- for damage and correct bonding.
- If the foam seal -C- is damaged or not bonded correctly it can come loose when pushing in the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- (with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) and when operating the A/C system can lead to problems with the separation and regulation of the exterior temperature for the rear and front depending on the adjustment. Noises can also result.
- If the foam seal -C- is not bonded correctly, bond it firmly or replace it. Refer to the Parts Information.
- If the foam seal -C- is damaged, replace it. Refer to the Parts Information.
-- Check the rubber bushing -D- on the pin -E- of the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35- -B- for secure fit.
-- Push the Auxiliary Heater Control Module -J604- -D- (with the Auxiliary Heater Heating Element -Z35-) in the installation slot of the heater and A/C unit.
-- Install the bolts -E-.
-- Install both wire connections -B- and -C- to the auxiliary air heater control module -J604-.
- Tightening specification of the hexagon nut (thread M 8) on connection -B- 20 Nm
- Tightening specification of the hexagon nut (thread M 6) on connection -C- 9 Nm
-- Perform a basic setting for the A/C system. Refer to GENERAL INFORMATION AND PROCEDURES - ACTUATORS, REMOVING AND INSTALLING .
